Costa Rica Mission Team Spring 2010

The Costa Rica Delegation Team is set to leave for their fact-finding trip on May 19th to 28th.  Our team consists of four members: Pastor Alfredo Oviedo, Dan Fredrick, Nicolette Filson, and Beth Ann Lehr.  Our team's goal will be to learn how Grace Lutheran Church and our mission team can partner to enhance the ELCA 's mission in Costa Rica by future mission trips. The Rev. Stephen Deal, regional representative of the ELCA Global Missions, visited Grace in February.  He gave us an overview of the ELCA supported missions in Central America.  Grace is a covenant partner and financial supporter of Rev. Deal's mission. Mission Trip News:  Club Leo Scholastic Books: Julia Lehr, a junior at Hendersonville High School, is collecting Spanish language picture books for a daycare preschool called Casa Abierta in Alajuelita in Costa Rica.  The Grace Mission team will be taking them to the daycare in May.  This educational preschool is designed especially for poor working mothers. Julia would like these children to have the opportunity to learn to read and enjoy the opportunities that books offer. The prices on the flyers start as low as $1.00 and are tax deductible!:  Option 1:  Complete the order form located by the Receptionist's Desk and place in the Preschool box.  You may write one check for the total of your order.  Sorry, but we cannot accept cash. Option 2:  You can go to the Scholastic Book Club website, sign in using our school's user name and password, and place an order with your credit card.  Please contact Beth Aann Lehr, Mission Trip Coordinator, at gracepre@bellsouth.net or the church office for the log-in information.

The areas they are involved include Vacation Bible School, Games, Medical, and Building.
