Our Church History

Our local church dates back to about 1916, and we're told that in 1916 this new congregation consisted of 14 charter members.  The first church building was constructed in the 1920s on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Church Street, where it still stands today as Reformation Presbyterian Church.  At that time the name “Grace” was chosen.

By the mid 1970s the congregation had outgrown the original church.  In 1979 the first services were conducted in a new sanctuary built at our current location, Sixth Avenue and Blythe. Later, necessary expansions added classrooms, staff offices, library, conference room, kitchen, fellowship hall and additional parking.  The sanctuary also had to be expanded to accommodate the continued growth.  By 1988, with these additions completed, the building was as you see it today.  And our membership, as this booklet is written in mid-2004, is approximately 1,000.
