Grace Built Habitat Home 2009

Did you know that Grace Lutheran Church has, thus far, had a hand in building at least four of those Habitat homes? In Fall of 1998, church members totally constructed The House That Grace Built. In 2006 and 2007 we participated in BLITZ BUILDS. In 2008, in conjunction with Thrivent, Mt. Pisgah Lutheran and St. Marks’ Lutheran, we conducted a BLITZ and then finished constructing a home. Now we have been asked by Habitat to conduct another BLITZ.

For those of you who have not been previously involved, a BLITZ is a one day project where we install prefabricated walls, roof trusses, roof sheeting, windows, and exterior doors (as time permits). The goal is to go from the already installed foundation, floor joist and sub floor, to a “dried in” house in one day. The house will then later be finished by regular Habiat volunteer work crews.

Construction experience is not required. Supervision
will be provided by Habitat personnel. Tools will also be available from Habitat, but if you have a tool belt, hammer, tape measure, etc., it would be good to bring them. Morning doughnuts and coffee plus lunch and drinks will be provided.

e Shuey Knolls subdivision in Edneyville, about six miles east of I-26 on Route 64. (A Shuey Knolls sign is located on the right side of east bound 64.)

So, gentlemen, ladies, teens (16 & up), if you are available to help with this BLITZ BUILD, please sign up on the forms provided at the welcome window in the church foyer.
